About the Iowa Green Party

The Iowa Green Party traces its statewide organization to the late 1990s.

Over the following decades, Iowa Greens participated in presidential, congressional, statewide, legislative, county, municipal, and local elections while also participating in organizing and civic activity throughout Iowa.

The party is working to strengthen statewide organization, preserve Iowa Green history, make information easier to access, and provide clearer ways for Iowans to participate.

A New Website for the Iowa Green Party

In 2026, the Iowa Green Party began rebuilding its public website from the ground up at iowagp.org.

The new site is being developed as a clearer and more reliable home for current party information, meetings, elections, organizing, historical records, and public participation.

Surviving materials from earlier Iowa Green Party websites and archives are being reviewed, preserved, and gradually restored where appropriate.

The goal is not simply to recreate the past, but to preserve Iowa Green history while building a stronger foundation for the future.
